SELECTMEN MEETING
JULY 20, 2000

Herbert Ramsdell, Kathy Maddocks and Barry Gammon were in attendance.

Meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm.

This meeting was videotaped by Dave Smith.

Dick Jarrett and Dave Smith requested status information regarding the gravel pit petition that had earlier been submitted to the Board. It was determined that the Planning Board would be requested to conduct the required hearing regarding this petition at its next scheduled meeting after July 27, 2000. The Planning Board Chair and Secretary will be advised accordingly in order to ensure that timely notice to the public is completed. Selectwoman Maddocks assumed responsibility for not having made this request of the Planning Board under an earlier date.

Johnna Libby, Lorraine Libby, Dick Jarrett and Dave Smith were present with some concerns regarding the executive session portion of the Board's July 13, 2000 meeting as reflected on the videotape on that meeting. Apparently, it was not obvious from a viewing of the videotape that the Board was entering into an executive session. They were advised that the Board entered into executive session to discuss personnel issues. Attempts will be made in the future to ensure that executive session portions of the Board's meetings are more clearly defined on the videotape. In addition, limited discussion with these attendees was had regarding the desirability of continuing to videotape the Board's meetings, during which one selectman clearly verbalized dissatisfaction with the procedure. No action on this issue was taken.

Gail Gantick was in to drop off individual assessing records which had been compiled over the course of her field work during 2000.

Selectwoman Maddocks reported on a request which had been made directly to the Town's website director by the Planning Board Chair asking for the addition to the Town's website of a page designated for the Planning Board, along with the necessary access authority to manage this page. The creation of a web page designated for Planning Board postings will be authorized, which page will be administered and updated by the Town's website administrator rather than by the Planning Board Chair.

General Assistance Administrator met with a client.

At the request of the taxpayer, an appointment was scheduled with the Assessors to conduct a residential inspection of the taxpayer's property.

Selectwoman Maddocks left the meeting at 7:40 to attend the York Cumberland Housing informational meeting being hosted by Dennis Doughty.

    Mail was reviewed.

    Weekly warrant was completed.

No further business to come before the meeting, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:05 pm.
